Question Anyone use the COMP 978 springs?

This is from my other post .. suggest valvetrain (see below)

I talked with Jay and he said that the 978s should be good and I can use the stock lifters ... any had any issues? Remember this is for a daily driver ..
...

Suggest valvetrain parts for the following cam: (this is on a daily driver)

I figure I'll rev to 6800 - 7000

.232/.236 .595/.601 114+4

what springs etc do you recommend? These will be in Absolute Speed 5.3L stage II heads..

Crowley,

For what it's worth Jay recommended 978's for his Absolute Speed 5.3L stage II heads
for a 230/230 .591/.591xer 114 + 4 cam that I ordered from him last week. We are probably in the same batch, keep me posted of when you get the heads and how they perform.

FYI - AP Engineering also recommended 978's with a 228/232 .600/.600 cam

I think we should be OK with those springs.

Thanks,

Thanks,
I've read some posts on here that implied I could be in trouble with the 978's as well ... I have since talked with Jay and went to the 977 / COMPR setup. I will be sending him my cam so he can set the heads up without adjustable rockers (installing the correct pushrods I believe) ..

Since this is my daily driver .. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't on the limit of what my springs could handle ...

I'll keep you posted ... keep me posted as well ..

thanks,
Crowley

I used 987s with my 2.08/1.60 valve heads and TR224/224 cam. I ran them for about 20K miles without any problems but in the last 5K I started noticing a lot of fall off in upper RPM. When I removed my heads this week, every intake valve had touched (slightly).

Doing it again, I would have used Comp R lifters and 977s in the first place.

Default 978

I have the 978 for sale they are a bump above the 987 and a little less than the 977 I was going to run stock lifters with them.
Went with a head porters springs
The 978 and titainum retainers are still for sale.
They are new !
