comp cams double springs #26926......question?
sorry comp cam springs #26925..........not 6.
can i use the stock hardware (retainers, seats, seals) from 243 heads? i just had my heads done and i just want to swap springs and i was hoping all the stock stuff would work with these springs.....on some other comp cam dual springs it says titanium retainers are a must but they didnt mention that for this part number.....

ok thanks JS01, i was thinking i was going to need those but didnt see a part # listed for them at all when i was researching these springs......i got these springs for 170$, at first i thought i was getting a deal but now.............i dont know
man i really wish i could just get everything all together (retainers, seats and locks). it would suck to pay three different shipping and handling charges.

Here's the P/N for regular steel retainers. PN: 713-16
http://www.compperformancegroupstore...Category_Code=
For lightweight tool steel retainers its PN: 1717-16
If you order the retainers, seats, and locks from a Comp dealer they will likely just charge one shipping fee.

well i got a call from comp cams today and they said they wont have the 713-16 retainers until november.........they have the 1717-16 retainers for 100$ more, the 713's are 54$, the 1717's are 154$....ouch! thats a big difference......i really dont want to pay that but i think i might have to. i have checked all over the internet and no one seems to have them......im hoping someone has them lying around a warehouse somwhere but so far no luck. comp should have a note on the page with the 713 springs stating that they are not avaliable for two months.
im still crossing my fingers that a sponsor or something will have some lying around. if i dont come across some in the next few days im just going to have to order the 1717's....it sucks that valve spring retainers are holding up the install. im doing this with the valve springs and there hardware. but honestly if this is going to be the hiccup(*sp?) in the build then i will take it. it could be a lot worse.

Darkman, i think your looking up part#'s from the 26926 springs, i have the 26925 springs. i miss typed in the title of the thread but i corrected it in the first paragraph in the #1 post. the 26925 springs have a 1.320'' diameter and the 26926's have a 1.500-1.550'' diameter. from what i can gather they use two different retainers. am i mistaken, im a beginner so im not positive.
thank you,

hey lilJ, i just tried to put on the double springs and the seats you sent me dont fit! they are too big, am i suppose to have the heads machined so that the seats will fit?
i just talked to comp and they said that the correct seats would fit right in........so, these are indeed the wrong seats. this just sucks! i just got the retainers in today, and those were the last parts i needed.....now it looks like i will be waiting on something i was suppose to already have.

Well **** man. If those are the wrong ones I will refund you the money and let me know how much they will be to have them shipped back. They are the same ones listed earlier in the thread and I thought those were the ones you needed. I am sorry that I made the mistake.

thanks for the quick reply......i pm'd you back.....thank you for taking care of this so quickly, i realize it was an honest mistake. i was more ticked off about not getting my car running, not the fact that you accidently sent the wrong seats, it was an accident and like i said in one of my previous post, stuff happens......im sure you didnt go ''oh let me take my time and send this guy the wrong seats''. from what it seems to me, you saw my post, thought you had the parts i needed (thought you could help me out) and then offered them to me at a very reasonable price. thank you for the good intentions lilj, i really do appreciate it even though it didnt work out.
just to clarify, i didnt list any other seats other than the 4695 ones
