Default pushrod ballpark

I have a measuring tool to be sure but there is something to be said for the voice of experience. I plan on purchasing a TSP cam kit which of course comes with cam, springs, and pushrods. I am putting the 228R in a 2000 LS1 that is also going to get 243 heads in stock form. It is also going to get LS7 lifters. With this combo what pushrods are people running? Id rather order the kit, measure and be right so I can immediately button the car up than to split the kit up and buy each part separately. If I don't have to, it would be nice to not have to wait on UPS to deliver pushrods. I realize that I may have to anyway but if I dont order the full kit there is a 0% chance of finishing the build at one time.

I'd say a 7.4 more than likely because of the cam size, but maybe a 7.350

First off I have this cam(TSP 228r) currently installed in my 2000 ws.6 with 7.4 pushrods. The car runs great and valve train is quiet but Damian(Tech member) told me that my PR's were too short and that I should have 7.450 installed with this cam. But since you are installing LS7 lifters which are .050 taller than stock I would say 7.4 should be fine for you since mine are .050 too short.

But measure just to be sure. Im sure you will hear this alot in this post because its the right thing to do if you want it done right

Thanks, Id like to get a working combo and go from there. If I already have the rods that my measuring tool comes out to then perfect. No down time. It seems like though, there are just multiple lengths out there for the same cam, heads, and lifters. I have read everything from 7.350s to 7.425s. That is a major difference in lengths. Good thing I have the tool to make sure.

Ask tsp when you order the cam. I'm sure they can help you based on the parts you plan to use.

7.450" would be a good bit too long for that one unless you are running an aftermarket rocker arm shimmed up, or an aftermarket casting head that raises the pedestal up, etc.

OP: 7.350-7.400" will be the ballpark. I'd measure after you get the cam installed, then call back and we'll ship the pushrods and still get you into the cam package pricing

I've used mostly 7.425 with XER lobes, but always measured for correct length.
Springs installed at correct height as well and wipe test performed. (That is on stock lifters)
LS7 lifters had mixed results, on HC setups I preferred switching to Comp 85016
