Default Need new heads

Ok im on a pretty tight budget here but ive been thinking about getting some new heads lately. I have a tsp 233/239 cam and stock intake. What are pretty much all my options? Ive heard of truck heads and getting them Ported.. Could i go to the junkyard and take some heads off a truck? If so which trucks should i look for.. Id like a nice list and best bang for buck. Im not really going for all out max peak hp, mainly bang for buck. thanks!

Not trying to be a dick but.....you should probably start with...

Make
Model
Engine
Current heads
Transmission
Intended use
Future mod plans
HP goals
ect......anything that will help us point you in the correct direction.

When you mentioned 317's, that makes me think you may have FI plans down the road. If not I would not increase CC volume with your current cam.

Thanks...there are lots of guys willing to help...just give us a little more details.

Just take the heads of your 2000 motor and send them to AI for P&P. Best bang for $$.

I agree with Predator-Z some what.....those are two of the three leading CNC shops (OEM castings). The one he forgot is TEA. Just do a search of the three mentioned...can go wrong with either.

I assume we are talking 241's ??

Thanks....

Gottcha

I'm out of touch with F-body part #'s, sold mine 4 years ago and bought a ZO6. Plus mine was a V-6 hardtop model that I transplanted a LS into.

Thanks for the education...

yeah its a y2k ws6 with stock heads. One reason im wanting to get new heads is because i stripped one of the spark plug threads going into the head one time when i changed the plug so it sits in there kinda crooked and not all the way in... If im going to take the heads off i might as well put different ones on. In the future yes i would like to go FI but as of right now i just need a replacement, and id want to upgrade a little in the process.

There was a thread somewhere just a few days ago with people finding 243/799 heads for around $450 on ebay. You could then turn around and send those off to TEA and have a killer head

A ported 243 head from ai would outflow a set of out of the box 205s... Not to mention you will have a little over a grand in the ais and 1800$ in a used set of 205s.

Give us a call & we can discuss options for your combination. We setup custom milling on our PRC cylinder heads to specifically match your camshaft. We have tons of experience with the 233/239 and cylinder head selections! We just finished a car that got PRC LS6 heads & fast intake and gained right at 65rwhp.

Not to mention for the $$ the PRC stage 1 ls6 heads are really a great buy & currently on special!
