Default 5.3 Iron block. bottom end help.

Alright, the school Im currently attending has a program where we can bring in our own engines and build them. I want to update my 80 z28. I found a gen IV iron 5.3 block. so far I've baked and peened the engine. Tomorrow I'll have more specifics as far as measurements go but my main question is, what kind of bottom end set up should I go with? I want to turbo the motor at some point down the road so I know I need to keep my compression low, I know things need to be forged, but as far as bore size goes, I know I cant go much bigger with this block nor do I really want to for strengths sake. Also, stroke, what should I go with etc, etc. any suggestions/links/advice will be greatly appreciated. thank you

You can for sure bore it to the LS1's bore very safely . Also there is a post in this thread from 2 or 3 months ago where a guy talks about his 5.3 iron .He says he bored to the 6.0 bore and sonic checked it and it was still thicker than a gen1 350 bored .060" over .

Good deal. I just had it sonic checked last night and im good to go for a 5.7 bore. The part that im really concerned with is the forced induction portion. I know 4340 is a given but as far as stroke goes, what would be favorable? I believe im set on buying from callies and I was looking into srp pistons. Rod suggestions?

Wiseco makes some really good pistons for the LSx engines, and Callies is definitely one of the most popular brands for the crank and rods.

How much power are you shooting for?
