Default How will a new cam effect my performance?

I am hoping LS1tech experts can help me out with this question.

I currently have bolt-ons, TSP PRC stage 2.5 LS6 heads with a 226/230 0.585/0.585 LSA 114 cam. I have dynoed at 438 rwhp and 378 rwtq. I am considering going A&A supercharged.

My question is if I go with a blower cam first how will it affect my power output? Let's use, just for debate, an A&A corvette phase 1 blower cam which I believe is 220/228 0.58x/0.58x LSA 116.

My current set up is excellent. However, even the dyno sheet shows that the difference between the current H/C set-up vs LS1 w/headers only happens at 4500 rpms or above. I got a high rev cam. It's also a little too big to pass California's smog. A typical blower cam will pass with flying colors, but what effect on performance. I was thinking I could install a decent blower cam. Who knows I might like it. Then follow it up with an A&A blower set up later, or not?

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

Are you willing you go up to .607" -.617" lift to maximize your HP/TQ with a smaller cam?
If you want to keep it under .600" lift, xer lobes with a 220/228 115lsa will give -6* overlap which shouldn't be a problem passing SMOG with a good tune. or a 222/230 116lsa, also -6* overlap.

Thanks for the PM.

I think that .600 will be a little high. I will have to double check, but I believe I have PRC's double spring kit. According to their website it should be good to 0.650 lift.

What type of numbers would I be looking at with those cam profiles?

My EPS 218/226 .595/.598 117ls would love a blower and you would
probably only lose 10 rwhp from your current setup and pass sniffers easily

10 rwhp isn't much. I can deal with that.

But I'm wondering how a cam with more overlap will affect the torque. When I had bolt-ons (headers TB, CAI, tune) on my LS1, then did H/C, I only saw an increase of 14 rwtq. My set up is more responsive. But the dyno graph says I'm putting out similar power to my bolt on until I'm over 4500 rpms. When I'm out on drives with my club, I find myself in the 4500 - 6000 range a lot. If I could get similar acceleration ( torque) at a lower engine speed, I might go in that direction.

220/220 .605/.590 113+3 LSA,

That will get you more trq and the power-band you seek while being totally Cali compliant.
-6* overlap.
