Default cam degree kit

i have been looking around for a cam degree kit and found the comp
POW101685 cam degree kit. do you guy think this is a good kit for ls1 motors does it have everyyhing in it that i will need has anyone used this kit. thanks

yep that's the good kit... looks like it has every thing you will need... you might need some dial indicator extensions

if the heads are on, you are going to need a piston stop,,, comp makes one for the LS

my heads are off they say it everything you need to do it with heads off.

you don't have to do it with the heads off, you can do it with the heads on its just alot more difficult. personally i do it with the heads off makes things easier.

Yeah it's a good kit I bought it when it came out. The only thing it doesn't come with is a good way to mount the dial indicator on the retainer. You can use the stuff that comes with it but it's not square. If it makes a difference or not I don't know.


I also had to order light weight checker springs.

you can easily make yourself a bracket with a 1"x 3" or 4" piece of flat bar. attach it to the block using an old head bolt and some washers or nuts for spacers. if you need to attatch the dial indicator to the front of the block, you can use your fabricated bracket and a front cover bolt

p.s. summit makes a dial indicator and stand that are round and offer 360* adjustment so you can get your dial indicator square,,,, i think it like $40 bucks,,, then you can peice together your degree kit... i think i made mine for $140 or so (including the LS1 Crankshaft tool that is a must for degreeing
