Default Ms3 guys come in.

I'm a first timer on this. I'm putting together an ls with ms3 and ported 243's.

Questions: how do you guys like it?

What shift points are you guys getting?

How is does it drive in traffic?

And is average RWHP for this setup? Or any ms3 setup.

Thanks for any info.

Sorry I dont know about the MS3, but "98% of all fords are still out on the road today, the other 2% made it back home." This made laugh really hard.

I have a 238/240 112 lsa basically the same MS3 is a 237/242. My tuner actually gave me an MS3 tune to drive the car to him. As for me I love it to death. Headers a good catback and a fast intake will make about 415-430 with stock heads and through your stock gears. Im not sure how ported your 243's are but with a little milled off and ported as you can go (225-229cc intake ports) it should be around 450-460. Me personally I made 400 through 4.10 gears and a six speed with an LS6 Intake. I daily drive mine to college and LOVE it to death. Still get good gas mileage and can't wait to toss some heads and a FAST intake on her and start making some power.

Wow sounds good. I'm really excited about this setup. Especially since I'm doing it all by myself. Except for the head port. I'm doing a stage 2 port and polish. Thinking about doing a 100 shot in the future. Maybe just maybe. Plus this won't be my daily, I have my third gen for this. If I hit 430 I'm happy. Stock ls6 Intake though. Is it possible to port the ls6 Intake?

400rwhp in a M6 with such a big cam, you got taken, that is for sure. I've made over 400 in a stalled A4 with a 224 cam, and beaten many big sticks on the street.
Bottom line all big cams need many more supporting mods to shine, but for many it is just bragging rights. So many youngsters make the same mistake over and over again.

ms3 is a good cam, i run a ms4, imo there both good old school cams that will pull great up top and love spray, imo though there are way better cams out there now, i wouldnt say there great for everyday driving, if your hardcore you will love fighting the bucking, surging etc, but if your not i would look into something else, also op you will need injectors, also the ms3,4 need way bigger gears than stock, i would say around the 4.30 range, on stock gears its just a dog down low, but you set if up with the right parts, shoot some spray in there and you should be a happy camper lol, also i wouldnt worry about porting your ls6 intake, just roll it untill you get a fast setup, imo a fast is really going to outperform the ls6 on that setup ,

I'm interested too, one of the cams I'm considering, I have heard mostly good but some bad about it too.
Also OP how much are you paying for the stage 2 work on ur heads? If u don't want to publicly announce it feel free to PM me.

I gotta agree with predatorz on this one. I'm not bashing anyones dyno numbers or cams.
Just going with personal experience here. But I've also left many "big cammed" cars scratching their heads on the street with my 224 stalled car.

alright, here we go....

I have the ms3 on a 112lsa. I am running stock 241 heads, and the stock ls6 intake manifold. I made 412rwhp through a 4.10 geared 10 bolt.

I then added a HSW wet plate kit and had it tuned for it. We took away 9* of timing so I can run up to a 200 shot safetly. The car still made 400rwhp on only 21* of timing. With a 100 shot, 517rwhp. 150 shot it laid down 600rwhp and 639rwtq. The car is a animal on the bottle, and runs pretty well on motor as well.

I put in a moser 12 bolt with 4.11's last winter, but havent been back to the dyno sense, cause I havent done anymore power mods. I am not sure what it would put down through the 12 bolt.

now, as far as street manners, I went through a few different tuners until I was STREET happy. Tuning WOT on a dyno is one thing, with the ms cams, but a good street tune is another. My last tuner dialed it in on the dyno with the nitrous, then out on the streets. Needless to say, I get mid 20mpg's on the highway with the 4.11's on a 28" tire, and I can cruise at 1300rpms with NO surging. I get a tiny bit of surging at 1700rpms, but not enough to get annoying. I DD my car as well. I have taken it on 900 mile one way road trips, getting great mileage without a single problem cruising with the ac on.

I have a ls6 ported oil pump, ls2 timing chain, thunder racing 7.425 chromoly pushrods, prc .675 golds, titanium locks and retainers etc. My revv limiter is at 7200rpms, but I shift around 6700rpms on the streets and 6900rpms at the track. Looking to add a fast intake and some heads this winter.

Last year I ran the ms3 in my 383 afr headed camaro. 10.4's at 129. 3150 raceweight. 4.11 gears 5000 stall. Put it in my cast oiron 408 in my 91 mustang and ran slower then the eps cam 236/248.

thats because a ms3 is too small for anything over a 383.

on motor torque peaked at 4700rpms @ 375rwtq and 412rwhp at 6300rpms and it dived down to 410rwhp by 7k but still wanted to pull. Keep in mind, this is stock 241 heads and ls6 intake manifold.

add a set of prc 2.5, 5.3 heads and a ported 92, im sure the power will peak much sooner.

where is the power lost on these MS cams vs the 224 and 228 cams?

Is the complete torque band that is lower??
