Default TSP-228R 5.3L 2.5 or AI 243's and custom cam?

I have it down to these two cams and I need help deciding... Texas speeds 228r on a 110LSA with 5.3L stage 2.5 heads or AI ported 243's with a custom cam supplied by them 226/234. I could expect around 430rwhp/410rwtq with the 228r and 440-450rwhp and around 410rwtq from the AI setup(according to AI). There both around the same price. Im just trying to think which ones better for the street, occasional visits to the track. I want to have decent low end yet having good overall power making a decent peak. What do you guys think?

I just got done watching the AI 5axis CNC machining video. Its impressive. AI has a track record for great results and I'm pretty sure that's who I'm gonna get to port my 799s.

AI all way. You can get your cam through them also. Phil checks your cam before it gets sent. This makes sure your cam specs are right and not a few degrees off, which is not uncommon. Their heads continue to prove that a factory casting can go head to head with aftermarket castings.

Yes I will agree. AI heads have been putting up some great numbers. I'm curious to see what there ported heads and cam will throw down!

I'm possibly thinking about upgrading to a fast intake. Very expensive though for the gains. Probably like 10rwhp or so. Unless I can find a used one in great shape.

The PRC cylinder heads are currently on special & are proven performers. You'll always see PRC cylinder heads in magazine shootouts side by side with all the major cnc cylinder head companies in the world. It's very important to us to show our products side by side with our competitors cylinder heads.

We use only the best cnc equipment available, all PRC cylinder heads are fully cnc ported & cut on a newen cnc valve job machine prior to milling & assembly specifically setup to your specs.

Don't forget the PRC cnc ported LS6 heads & we're working on a brand new PRC aftermarket casting cathedral head that moves right around 320cfm!!

Decided to go with AI. Going with the 226/234 .600/.600 112lsa. Hoping for 440rwhp!

I have been doing a ton of research lately and I too have decided to go with AI, we are still working out some details on the cam but they have certainly earned my business. I too was deciding between TSP/PRC and AI and it was ultimately AI's customer service and extensive knowledge/transparency that was the deciding factor. Having owned and modified an LT1 I am very familiar with what AI is capable of which is much more documented in the LT1 community. TSP/PRC has been offering fairly priced performance parts to the LS1 community for quite some time but when I emailed them, they never got back to me. When I called TSP/PRC (and managed to get through) they seemed like they were rushed and were not as interested to discuss certain aspects of my build nor did they offer any alternatives to camshaft selections that I may not have agreed with. Not everyone that needs to pass emissions wants to run a single pattern 224 cam. AI on the other hand returned my emails with detailed responses that were well worth the day or two (business days) that it took to get back to me. AI addressed my camshaft questions with a detailed response and also offered several other options as well as the pros and cons of each selection. They certainly know what they are doing and with that kind of customer service I think that their products are the best bargain out there!
