Default Extreme racing products timing set? Anyone use it?

Description below, is this a quality piece or are they junk? A comp set isn't much more expensive but this seems like one of those things that this could be who supplies comp anyway. I can't find much about them, good or bad.

"American made! It is Extreme Racing Products part 9-R33588.
This is a heat treated machined billet steel timing set with the black oxide coated 9 keyway crank gear.
This set has a nine keyway crank gear that is indexed and clearly marked for easy cam timing changes.
This timing set is fitted with a press fit roller thrust bearing on the rear of the cam sprocket. It has the large .250 diamenter seamless percision ground true double roller chain and match paired sprockets with exact tooth form that give precise chain fit and quicker RPM.
Oil pump spacer plates and full instructions (with pictures) are included. "

no experience with that set but it looks ok, i noticed it has a nice price point.... why do you want to go double roller?

I wasn't so much concerned with that as the adjustable sprocket. Damian on here has advised me to look at the JP single adjustable. He said it is a very nice piece without the added weight and complexity of shimming the oil pump.

If I can find a different cam quickly, I won't need either...

I got excited and bought a cam that is too large for my needs since I don't want to rev over 6600rpm.

232/238 .612/.609 114+1

It will be for sale for what I paid for it as soon as it arrives and I inspect it for wear and damage. $200 shipped.

I have a sound clip of it running. I also have dyno sheets from an early run, but the owner was having MAF issues. On the sheet I have it made 389 @6400 and was climbing. Owner said it made 408rwhp on a Mustang dyno in an 04 GTO with longtubes and intake tube only once his issues were lined out, but couldn't remember the RPM.

It's the lsa that kills me. I was hoping to just advance it down some, but then I can't mill the heads and IMO a larger cam like that would need the compression with my gear and weight.

Why do you think that is too big? You could always advance it 3 degrees and bring the powerband down some....

Edit: read closer......I say it is definitely workable. That cam will make usable torque by 3600 rpm where your converter lets off.

The more I look at similar cams, I think in a setup with no other limiting issues it would want to peak at ~6800 and make power past 7000.

If I mill the heads .020" and advance it even 2* Damian is thinking I would be close enough to need to check PTV clearance and at that point if there were issues it would require either flycutting or not advancing it. Already purchased stock thickness Fel-Pro gasket, don't want thicker.

One head is pretty rough on the bottom from a busted piston so they will need more than a cleanup pass for sure. With the 3600 converter and 3.42 gears in a 3700# car I'm thinking I created a combination that would be lazy.

I'm currently trying to round up a 230/236 on a 111+1. Damian is also pulling a cam today he thinks is in that range and he's going to check it out for me. If I can't get either of those I might order the timing set and try the one I have.

Using my week vacation next week to do all this, so it has to be finished so I can drive the car home from my dad's shop.
