I just bought the Cloyes single set and it was really nice. The chain looks strong, and no slack. I haven't heard anything bad about the cloyes ls1 sets.
For a cheaper set you can get the ls2 HD timing set from Yank in the for sale section for $72 shipped.

the car has 145000 miles right now, im sure the gears have worn down a bit and probably would cause more slack

Rollmaster is made by JP Performance. I would personally go with the new GM set if this were my car. I would be hesitant to take it apart and re-use the chain sprockets with that many miles on them. The wear may be hard to notice but can cause disengagement issues with the drive sprocket (crank) which will result in it wrapping farther prior to disengagement.
Also, not sure which harmonic damper you are using, but this can be an issue with timing chain life. Stay away from ASP.

Cases of broken timing chains include:
- Using new chain with old gears
- not using the stock / cloyes dampener
- using an ASP pulley
- using a blower on stock pulley (causes the rubber to get weak and slipping violently)
- using a double roller and not clearencing properly for it
- using a double roller and do high RPM decels (double roller is heavy and wants to lift off gears)
The last one is simply what I heard, makes some sense.
The old gears/new chain concept especially applies to NON Roller chains, roller setups are more forgiving, i still wouldn't do it. Buy the cloyes single roller HD set for only 130 bucks, no slack, retains original dampener and is hex adjust, why not cheap insurance?

a complete ls2 set with gears would be fine as well but I dont see the need to buy a new single roller chain and gears thats pricey. With that said however my 125k ls1 compared to my brand new ls6 crate showed no visible signs of wear on the gears. and do you think people who cam their cars at 100k or more replace the gears? probably not
