Default Cam choice for Mast headed LS1

Hey guys,

Ive got some Mast Small Bore LS3 heads on order along with a pretty good valvetrain (1.8 yella terras, .700" K-motion springs, 3/8" P/Rods, morels) and im now looking for a cam to suit it. I want to run some good numbers down the strip as well as on the dyno.

It has a Circle D 4c converter, built 4L60e, 3.9 diff gears and will be tuned on E85.

Daily driver too but i still want a decent sized stick because i can

How much extra clearance do these heads provide?

Ill probably be getting an ISKY grind through my local tuner as he thinks they are a lot easier to tune and they run nicer. But ive been pretty happy with Comp in the past.

Cheers
Tom

I say go with a Comp Cam, they can help you with cam selection online, just click their tech support instant messaging link.

Sounds like your gonna have a nice build, what kinda bottom end you got?

Standard bottom end, but with sump baffles, modded windage tray and ARP rod bolts.

Thats where im stuck, dont know what size (in the 240's would be good), duration split or LSA to be looking at? Am i looking at something that suits a rectangular port head design or more of a traditional LS1 design?

You might want to ask the folks at MAST - likely have a good idea what works with their products.
