Default 550 hp with texas speed heads and cam???

So i found this add for a 1999 vette and the car seems like a decent deal
but i dont believe it would have anywere near 550hp I was thinking 420-450 rwhp tops, which is plenty for what i would do with it, does anyone have this setup on a ls1?

The horsepower is somewhere in the range between 500-550.

Here is a list of some of the modifications done:
Racing clutch
Lightweight flywheel
Underdrive pullies
Electric waterpump
Custom exhaust (3 inch headers into magnaflow mufflers)
"Fast" intake manifold
"Fast" Thottle body
"Texas Speed" heads and cam
Uninstalled polished valve covers
4'10 Rings & pinion
Lean Felder halfed shaft & clutch springs for rearend

he didn't say rwhp and it could easily make 500-550 crank hp.

500-550 ~= 400-440, assuming a 20% drivetrain loss

500 * 0.8 = 400
550 * 0.8 = 440

Ask him for a dynosheet, he's probably stating crank numbers to spark more interest; "Horsepower sells cars."

Like the others mentioned, he never said those 550 horses were at the wheels, and at the flywheel they seem about right for a H/C/I 346.

Like these other guys have said, he might be stating crank horsepower numbers which would be about correct for most of our heads/cam packages. I would ask and see if he has a dyno graph to see what the car is making at the tire.

500-550 is a pretty wide range so I think it's a highly unreliable "guesstimate".

It does have a "Racing Clutch" whatever that is????? I also didn't think FAST made a DBW TB. Could be wrong about that though.

Anyways, FRC's are cool and if it's in good shape and he has documentation for the mods it's worth a very close look.

he probably did what a lot of people do and put a known combo together that can vary 50hp depending on other factors...a stingy dyno and a worse header/exhaust could be 50hp down from an identical setup.

Sounds fishy ..yeah what is a racing clutch!? The seller has no idea what mods the car has. To reach over 500fwhp, needs nice ported heads, valves, and a fat cam, something in the ms3 range. Dont buy a car with unknown mods or estimated dyno..

When I mentioned the clutch in my last car was really soft (compared to my Mustang) he goes "Yeah, gotta love those racing clutches!"...just a term used by those who don't exactly know what they are talking about. Like me!

Well you can reach 500 with smaller cams, but its usually easier to get a higher peak number with a big cam than a smaller one, but the smaller one will have a better powerband.

I sort of got that, its just good to know if you have a 400$ ls7 clutch or a 1000$+ twin disc...anyway if it really has h/c, it must be anywhere from 390rwhp-460rwhp LOL
