Default Rebuild + Break In

I am having my engine rebuilt with new pistons and rods for lower compression and better forged internals for turbo app. It is almost complete and I was speaking with the guy doing the rebuild about when it is all done and I mentioned breaking it in before putting the turbo on and he said there is no break in required. He said we should put the turbo on while it is there and drive it straight to the place to have it tuned at whatever boost I want to ultimately run(approx 10-12)

Does anyone object to this, should it be broken in first? If so why?

THanks

With any new setup you need to break it in. You need to seat the new rings into your hopefully brand new honed block. If you don't you will cause premature wear. Just my feeling, always did it to my new cars, I could be wrong but i've always did it that way.

look at it this way, what could a proper break in hurt? absolutely nothing. and what about improper break in.....KABOOM...

Rings seat best under PRESSURE . Run the car in 4th (3rd if A4) from 2500 rpm to about 4500 rpm under full throttle. Do this 2 or 3 times are your rings wil be seated in the best way .

Can the car be ran for a short period of time until the car can get a section of road that it can be driven like that. Say about a mile away? Or do the rings need to seated right away?

was speaking to a friend and he said he has heard to run regular oil for 500-1000 miles with low boost and then change back to synthetic, up the boost, and tune. Any ideas?

Yes you can run it until you get to where you want.

it is good to have it close to tuned as not to run it rich while breaking it in, other wise if its to rich the fuel can wash the rings, which i think it did to my engine.

id break it in with low or no boost (with regular oil) change it then head to the dyno.

I put mine together,drove it 100 miles..
Drained oil twice and varies the rpm that whole 100 miles..

Then it went on the dyno an we pulled it to 6000 about 4 times for a final ring seat.
DONE

Definately don't run synthetic for break in.
