Default Which valve lap?

Which valve lap do you guys use to lap in your valves? there is water based and petroleum based lap. What do you use? what grit? what is your process?

My final fine grit was 600 if I remember correctly and it was oil based. Some like the water based better because it cleans up easier but I couldn't find it in the grits I was looking for. I bought mine from a place near Yorktown, VA over the internet that does motors for cart racing (small motors).

looks like the last head that i did was for my personal car and i used permatex 765-2657. i just called them up to find out what grit it is and they said it breaks down to a 220. Hmmm i thought it was alot finer than that. i guess it was fine enough because the engine gets good compression and runs hard when you step on it. where can i pick up a finer grit like the 600 grit vettenuts is talking about
