Anyone with cam experience tech in
Was wondering what the best cam is to run with stock heads without flycutting or running in to PVC (piston valve clearance). Was thinking the lines of a MS3, MS4 or Torquer 3. Not a DD I have a few other mods any advice would be great going to order new stuff this up coming week
Thanks
Thanks

Unless you plan to switch to some 4.10 or higher gears, I would steer clear of the "bigger is better" cam choices. Surely, someone will chime in to say they've done it, but it is less than ideal when you are trading off the low-end power in favor of big gains in the 6,500 to 7,200 range.
Also, PTV clearance is marginal with the big cams, often much less than the 0.080" / 0.100" recommended by engine builders. Just because they are advertised to clear doesn't mean you shouldn't check. You might be suprised how close the valves come to the piston.

If I could handle getting beat and owned an M6... LOL Sorry, had to...
I would personally look into something besides a cam that doesn't start putting a grin on your face until high in the RPM range.
I would look at a cam more around 228/231 .600 111
I would want to feel that grunt down low a little.. You don't need a large cam to make good numbers or be fast either. Go with an Ms4 and you usually have to fly cut to make it run like smaller cams because you need the compression.
Couple a cam like I stated above with a decent set of heads and you have 450Rwhp with a stock ls6 intake/full exhaust/tune.

big cams are not a budget way of going fast, you need every max effort part to make them work well, honest gear wise i would think more along the lines of a 4.30 ,4.56 but i dont know anything about your setup, honest op you really need to do alot of research and learn a few things, i have an ms4 and getting this car setup right was more than i wanted to get into ,but a ms4 with every other mod, killer heads and gears will make a pretty nasty ride , but for a street car i would look for something with more low,mid range. a big cam in a somewhat stock car will be such a dog

Give us a call & we can discuss power differences between the camshafts, as well as changes to p/v clearance. We need to discuss your entire car to best decide on a camshaft that meets your goals.
