Default Which Oil Pump to use?

Just wondering what oil pump to use on my build? Its a ls6 with a ls2 chain. Not sure if should run a stock style or aftermarket pump. Let me know what you guys suggest.

I run the melling, it is a very nice piece, and worth every penny in my opinion. I will only run melling in my engines. alot of guys run ported OEM pumps, but why not just get a better quality pump that does not need any additional work. Thats my experience.

Stock ls6 unless you want a ported one for higher pressure.

Im running the SLP pump and love it, but I got it for a good deal and have been told its just a melling with SLP milled into the side. I just like the fact that its clearenced for a double timing chain.

We offer the ported LS6 pumps that are very popular. They are hand disassembled, ported, shimmed & reassembled!

Paul Bell - To answer your question, yes. The pump is CNC machined on the back to clear a double roller setup. When I bought the timing chain it came with some spacers, but they are not used with the SLP pump.

Any particular reason why the 10295 over the HV/HP 10296? Any issues with running the pan dry with the 10296?

The 296 has potential to run the pan dry, but most people use the longer truck filter and run 6 to 6.5 quarts to prevent this.

Is anyone running the 10296? I'm looking for a new pump for ls2 pushing 480+ Rwhp. Or should I get the regular melling pump I believe part #10295? Thanks for the help

I'm interested in this as well. I bought the 10296 and after reading about running the pan dry i'm a little concerned. Should I exchange it for the 95? Car is only going to be a ~425whp car. Will prolly spray it though.

i have the TSP LS6 pump and that thing is amazing. i have 70psi cold idle and an average idle of 55-60psi hot (unless i beat on it then it is closer to 50psi) after 2K rpm it will push out 70psi all day
