Default Gasket set.

I am getting ready to put my 408 togather finaly. What is a good gasket set that won't brake the bank. The motor is 13:1 and built for 350 of nitrous. I don't plan to run any more then 150 for the first year or two and will probably pull the heads and get them CNCed before running any thing more then 150-200.

I am looking to order these from my local NAPA if possible because we I have an account through work with them. If that is a bad idea please direct me where to buy them.

GM MLS gaskets are a good price and will work well, but on bolts for nitrous and that much compression, i would definitely go with ARP all the way.

So GM performance gaskets are good.

And ARP studs or bolts?
I see some sets are listed up to 02. What is the diffeance? I am sure my LQ9 is newer then "02.

Yes sir, GM MLS head gaskets work great, I have all gm gaskets holdin mine together, and she dont leak a drop.
The difference is in the length from what I understand, and you have to have the right set. I have all arp in my lower end. If you run the arp studs, I dont know if you will be able to get the head of the engine while it sits in the car, I have no exp. with them.

I used all GM gaskets in my wife's engine, and wouldnt change a thing. The gaskets are a little more expensive, but Im very happy with the quality.

As for the ARP stuff, I personally would go with Studs throughout. Dont worry about going 12 point, or anything special, its not necesary and they cost alot more IIRC.

There was a block difference in 04, where they switched to head bolts that were all the same length, and the earlier blocks had 2 shorter bolts. Its easy to check to see which one you have by measuring the depth of the holes. The two that matter are the front, and back holes closest to the lifters.

Thanks. I will be buying the gaskets wed. and finding head bolts/studs asap.

Are ARP Bolts re-usable? I am sure the studs are correct.

This in a truck so I have plenty of room.

I think you were refering to me talking about taking the heads off later down the road. Reason I made that point was that the gaskets won't see the full 350 of nitrous. 150-200 at the most because before going to the bigger shots I will get a DP and have the heads CNCed or upgrade.

I do apreciate all your help!
