Default What heads to use?

This is going on my friend's LQ4 T/A

Option 1: Sell the 317s and get some 243s to bump up compression throw in a Torquer V2 and call it day. Several people have said no way to get into 11s with this so my friend is determined to prove them wrong I've seen several cam only cars hit 11s.

Option 2: The performance shop that is going to do the work have suggested going with LS3 heads and L76 intake. No porting done just stock heads and an aftermarket cam.

Option 3: Talked to Texas Speed and they suggested PRC 2.5 heads with the Torquer V2. This is the one I like the most but this one will take longer to do because of the added cost of the heads.

The goal of the car is 425-450rwhp and hopefully getting into the 11s with everything set up correctly. What do you guys think? Thanks in advance.

Well stock untouched 243 heads will cost you about $400-$500, the TQ2 cam will run $400, pushrods will be $120, PRC .650 springs will be $300.... so your looking at $1,200-$1,300 for that package..

You can get a texas speed 5.3 head/cam package with pushrods and springs for $1,700

or a Stage 1 243 head/cam package from them for $1,500

The 5.3 package and the stg 1 ls6 package is the better deal and will yield slightly more gains in my opinion, because the heads are worked already and already assembled..

if you go the 243 stock head route, you still might have to get them milled or atleast a valve job which would negate the price in going in that direction..

I know becuase i purchased a set of stock 243 heads, and i priced a valve job and milling to bump compression, and after my cam and spring purchase I should have just went with a package to save time and money..

Yea your best bet is to get good aftermarket heads or the tsp head and cam package...I bought 243s and I wish I would have just waited and got the good heads, the heads are where the biggest gains are...
