Default Should I be upgrading my fuelpump on my 98 camaro for H/C/I?

So I was just wondering should I be uprgrading my fuelpump besides the injectors since I'm going from just being cammed to h/c/i, or will the stock fuelpump be sufficient?

Depends on what head/cam combo you are going to be running...I have a 98 and I did ls6 heads and comp xer273 cam and ls6 intake and I'm running stock pump and injectors with no problems...

I daily drive my 98 with H/C, LS6 intake on the stock fuel system. It drives fine for everyday use but I limit the amount I get on it until the injectors get swapped out and retuned.

In a 98 you should be good up to about 450 at the wheel.

Don't skimp and get a raxetronix kit for the car. You need to upgrade the old fuel pump. I believe on this 100% my engine went super lean and messed up cylinder seven bc the pump lost pressure at wot

It may not be needed but definitely an insurance piece. For a measly 200 bucks you can get a racetronix 255 with hotwire kit. I am making roughly 650 to the tire on spray with that setup and it is still going strong.

Only way to tell if you NEED a pump is to check pressure at the rail...98s have the biggest stOck injectors at 28.5#...unless you are buying boss heads with a giant cam you will be fine...I drag race (low 12s) the crap outta mine no problems

2001-2002 got the 28# injectors as well. It seems to be about 50/50 with people swapping out the pump with H/C. I'd say injectors for sure, I'm going to see how it does on the dyno with fuel pressure before I make my decision to change it. I have the kit but really don't want to change it if I don't have to.

i agree its cheap to do, easy to install, if you go with the trap door method which i feel is the only way to do it lol, yes you could get by on the stocker but it doesnt cost as much and like carter said it will give you room to grow if you ever want to make good power, i feel the pump is overlooked by alot of people you will mod everything else, heads, cam, intake, injectors, suspension etc a fuel pump is pretty important in my book

Leave your pump alone and replace it when it dies. You can actually spend a Ton of money on your car if you want to but is it really necessary.......only you can make that decision. I had my engine top end rebuilt and replaced my pump with a stock GM pump and I am doing fine, it is my DD.

Recently did some research on this myself. From what I read, stock pump is good to 450-ish rwhp. I just installed a racetronix kit for my upcoming AFR/fast 102 build as i'd rather drop the 225 on the kit than go lean.

cool, thanks fellas I think I will go with the racetronix fuelpump assembly in the red anodized thingy, since I do plan on spraying in the future after I get a rear first.

already bought the pump, going the trap door method. Changed a pump on a 89 f-body and it was a bitch dropping the tank.
