cam question
First off i'm sure this has been disscussed before and i'm sorry i over looked it. I'm in need of a new cam and lifters because my lifter is now sitting in my block and a lobe from 1 cam is worn... anyways, i'm gonna go ahead and do a mild build. i'm going to be driving my car daily and i'm keeping the stock heads, just getting them machined. so what would be a good cam to go with? i'd like to make some good power but be able to rely on it 100%. i'm open to any opinions.

1st off I c ur goals, however explain more..what do u want, a nasty daily driver? with compensating MPG? ur goals (racing on weekends etc.) need to b posted ..its hard to have the best of both worlds, trust me u are opening up a can of worms...if u have a stick car, u can get away w/somewhat aggressive cam, if auto, ur gonna most like get ur trans done and a stall converter..
Search around this site and see what others in ur category are doing..lots of info here
Good Luck!

Your lucky you got the 6 speed because you can run a rowdier cam because the 6 speeds are easier to tune and you can get a bigger cam compared to an automatic car with the same parts...if I was you I would either get an ls6 cam which is small side or a low 230s .600+ lift cam...I would prob get a 226/230 from eps or something similar which is right at the limit before you have to start effecting driveability...if you have full bolt ons like an intake, headers, exhaust, etc. I would get the higher side EPs cam, but if it's bone stock I would go with an ls6 cam and ls6 intake to match...have fun man cams are fun!

Honestly I wouldn't go with an MS3/MS4 or a comparably-sized cam if you're running stock gears. Yeah you'll have higher peak hp with a bigger cam like that, but you won't be making any low to mid-range power and it will bog and buck down low. If you go with a slightly smaller cam with stock gearing your car will actually be faster because it'll have a broader powerband and more "usable" power. Just my 2 cents

FM13, Torquer v2, TSP 228r, all popular daily driver cams that still make good power. Some people do have MS3's or Torquer v3's in their DD on stock gears, you just sacrifice some driveability and they're a lot harder to tune. All personal preference.
