Default do i have to run a stall or not

Hey guys got a quick question for yous, I have a stock 00 ls1 camaro, i am going to put long tube headers on it and prolly a 262 crane cam, will i need a stall ? i was told i could just tune it and run it like that without one. and is it ok to run that cam with stock internals or can i go bigger? I really only drive it in the spring and summer, but i would say I put 3-4,ooo miles on it in a summer

I would recomend getting a stall before, or at the sane time as a cam swap....just by going to a 3,600 stall you can drop your 1/4 mile time by a half second, plus if you run a cam too big for your stall it will bog down and not perform near as well.

A stalled auto is great, don't be scared to get too big of a stall because normal driving is hardly affected, and once you are up to speed the converter will lock...also if you do get a stall get a very high quality one like a Yank, and you will need a tranny cooler

Consider this (all numbers approx of course):
Stall = -.5
Cam on a stock converter = -.2-.3
Cam on healthy stall = -.4
Exhaust = -.1

With the right converter/cam combo, you can see quarter mile drops of 1 full second and sometimes more. That might as well be a 100 shot of nitrous that you have available to you at all times. It is hard to beat and a helluva lot of fun to drive!

So, no. You don't need a converter to run that setup. But when someone with a converter-only car dusts you or you drive one, I promise you will want one.

I wouldn't waste your money on a real small cam. You are goin to regret it and wish you went bigger. The ms3 is a good all around cam. And the stall to ME is worth it..

Everything he just said. I hadn't seen the specs on that cam. I didn't know they came that small anymore! The MS3 is a great suggestion too. It has been proven hundreds of times over. It has stuck around for years for a reason - it is worth it. The little 262 is not!
