Default new cam performance questions

Hello,
I was offered a really good deal on a new cam for my C5 So I decided to go ahead and buy and figured worst case, I can at least sell if for what I paid.

I wanted to ask a speculation on how it will perform to see if I am going to keep it or not.

it is going into a C5 (243 heads, long tubes, LS6 intake)
specs are 232/240 .580/.580 113 LSA.

I want something that is going to sound like it has a cam in it but not shake my fillings out.

what does everyone think I should expect out of this cam with those heads.

Thanks

113 LSA will help for easier idle, but thats a good sized cam. sounds like a LG X2, but with less lift and higher LSA.

i was originally going to go with a 228R but I got this one for about half of what a new cam cost so I thought I would give it a try. goals are daily driver and 400rwhp.

Good tuner is the key for a DD. This cam wont give you the nice low end power of a 228R, but it will scream in upper RPM. It really depends what you want. In the worst case, 3:73, 3:90 or 4:10 will do the trick.

it is not. it is a MN6. autos are harder to tune. you have to have a higher stall convertor or the car will want to buck at stoplights.

I am going to be taking the car to antivenom in Tampa for tuning. I have read many times that the G5X2 is a good daily driver cam but has a bit more lift than this one. Any speculation on the around town driving manners of this cam once it is tuned?

Thanks

gonna bump this question to the top one more time. same duration as the G5X2 but less lift. Any cam experts know what that will do for daily driving ability.

Thanks again.

Depends on your heads really. More duration on a head with a large lazy port will help with driveability. But with stock ls6 heads, I do not foresee a problem with driveability as long as the tune is dead nuts.

Sorry I read that wrong. With less lift and the stock 243's, I think you will be fine with a good tune.

sweet thanks, I wasnt planning on doing anything to the heads other than having advanced induction do their performance rebuild and mill some off for a compression bump. With that low of lift I dont think PTV clearance should be an issue even with the longer duration. The cam was too good of a deal to pass up and I originally thought it was the g5X2 because of the duration not noticing the lift was different. It is going to either be tuned by antivenom or efi alchemy in FL. any recommendation on which of those would do a better job.

I have a 230/238 on a 113 but it has 2* advance ground in with some marginally worked 799 (same as your 243).

I tuned it myself (first car I've tuned). SS3600 converter and 3.42 gear in a car with a street weight of 3800#s. Excellent manners and only gets stubborn on sub 32* days until it gets some heat in it.

It has excellent throttle response and runs/drives better over the entire power band over my old 230/224 (which TR advertises as a 224 with extra kick).

glad to hear that this cam isnt as radical as i was led to believe. i talked to the tuner that i was planning on having work on it and he gave me the impression that this cam would not work for a daily driver.
