1997 corvette alternator, how do I wire it up to make it work without pcm???i been searching all Over the forum and I seem to get conflicting information!i called S&P performance and mark there told me pin D goes to solid 12 volts and pin C goes to 12v switched on by key!!is this correct??

What out for this! the incorrect way can result in a blown Alternator. Many of the Alternator only require a lower voltage to activate the Alternator.. many of the earleir LS1 Alternator can use a 12+v Ign Hot with a 12volt Light bulb in line to reduce the voltage. Or just let the PCM activate it.
You can also use a Resistor..(I can't recall the amount of resistors needed, but you should be able to search for it, I know it has been talked about alot in the Swap area).

Just go to Radio Shack and get a 5v regulator to put in line...
the regulator is a couple of bucks...and will do the job properly
the light bulb and the resistor methods are not really the right way...they dont really offer enough voltage drop to make your alternator last a long time...they will last for a while, but it will still burn out after a year or so... the 5v regulator will get you as much life as if the stock pcm was controlling it.

I'm running a stock 2003 C-5 FEAD in my Maverick swap. I couldn't find a definitive answer either. I currently have a 12v key-on supply wire to terminal "B" (F: field) and nothing else on the 4 pin connector. I had originally tried wiring a lamp through terminal C (L: lamp) but it wouldn't work because I used an LED for my lamp. I don't drive it much, but it's been that way since 2008 with no problems...

it has 3 posts....
Voltage input, ground, and 5v output...
connect the Voltage input to any ignition on 12v source....
connect the 5v wire to your alternator...I just used my stock connector and the wire connected to it and ran that one wire back to my regulator.
ground should be obvious...ground it to the chassis somewhere..LOL
then anytime your car is running, you get 12v to the regulator, and 5v to the alternator and your system charges.
mine has been going strong for a year with no issues.
I just mounted mine to the sticker location on the drivers strut tower area using a small self tapping screw..
