Machine shop painted my heads, should I be pissed?
I just picked up my stock LS1 heads from the machine shop. I had them perform a cleaning, 3 angle valve job, and reassembly with new Manley intake valves, new valve stem seals and, and new springs. The bottoms look great, clean valves and a faced deck. However after bead blasting and before assembly the gave them a quick spray coat of grey. I can't figure out why they would do this except that they are so used to working on steel heads that it is just part of their procedure.
Should I be pissed, should I have them strip and re-assemble or just let it go and be happy that it looks like they did a good job with everything else?

It looks like plain old spray paint but I doubt I would be able to tell the difference. I appreciate the heads up. I'll give them a call and ask before I try to re-spray them.

If it's spray paint, you could hit them with some brake parts cleaner and wipe them down with some rags. It'll strip it right off and not mess anything up in the process.
