Autozone starter hitting flywheel

Default Autozone starter hitting flywheel

I changed my converter and my starter was on its way out so I bought me one from autozone know it is hitting flywheel.Every mechanic I have talked too says you don't have to shim a ls1 starter.What is going on?

Looks like somebody has put a 6.0 flywheel on it.I went and got me a 6.0 starter and it is meshing good know.Still need to shim it just a tad.
