How much can you flycut stock pistons?
I've got a LQ9 and it looks like I'm gonna have to fly cut .050" on the exhaust and .075" on the intake to get enough clearance.
Think it will be safe to run that way? I was planning on spraying a 125 on the engine, but not sure now.
What do you guys think?

i read a thread on here a while back about a guy who took his pistons out and cut them up just to see how much he could flycut and still be "safe". don't remember who the OP was or where to find the thread but if you type in some keywords in the search and go through a few of them you might find the one im speaking of... hope it helps. post back when you find out your answer so others can know as well

I just flycut my stock ls1 piston. 0.100 on the int/exh. due to my milled 5.3 heads to 59cc. and a mild cam. I wanted the option to have enought PTV clearance for more radical cam later on. Had the motor spin to 6500 rpm. So far all's good!
