Default Bearing Clearances

What are ideal bearing clearances for an ls1 used as a weekend warrior. High revving(7k rpm) want the motor a little loose but There are quite a few opinions. So i was wondering what would be good clearances for the main and rod bearings. Its more of a street strip car. meant for 10's

you are going to get a few different answers on this one...
factory specs on rods are .0009"-.0025". set your rods up at .0023"-.0028"
factory specs on mains are .0008"-.0025". set your mains up at .0025".

like i said im sure you will get alot of different answers on this on... just my 2 cents

Beware though, the loser you set the bearing tolerances, the more volume you need the oil pump to push in order to maintain oil pressure.

Here are a couple sources.

Main Bearings (Aluminum Block)

1. Tony Mamo, 0.0017" - 0.0019", https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...clearance.html (Post #6).

2. Joseph Potak, 0.0015" - 0.0020", "How to Build and Modify GM LS Series Engines" (Page 40).

So what about on a blower motor (ls1, aluminum) looking to make between 700-800rwhp? My engine builder wanted the mains closer to 0.0020" and the rod journals to be closer to 0.0025". Granted, I'm planning to run a high volume, high pressure oil pump.
