As far as I know, all you can buy is "LS7" lifters. Ask for the stock one's at the store, those are what you are going to get.

While you're on that slope, do you do a trunion upgrade while you're in there? Should you swap out springs while you're in there to handle more lift? Why not, if you're going to change the cam, why wouldn't you change the springs to get a little more lift? Gotta change out gaskets too. Should you go with a thinner MLS gasket to get a bit more compression? Maybe mill the heads for that too? But, if you do that, will you have ptv issues?

Muwhahahahahahah.. It's an evil thing, that crackpipe of speed.

It's a budget thing. You tell us how much you can/want to spend, then someone might have a guess for you.

When a lifter fails, new heads become a moral imperative.

best bang for your buck would be the ls7 lifters
pricewise they outperform the rest as long as your running close to stock numbers

the last cam that was put in got .650" dual springs so in theory i shouldn't need to change them again. but i was thinking about going and doing the trunion upgrade. figured since the heads would be off this time that i might send them out for a light mill and valve job.

ive had this "sleeper" cam in for over a year and about 3000 miles. cant really tell it even has a cam in there even with the long tubes. sounds very similar to a c5zo6. it had done some amazing things like beating boltons 5th gens and gtos, went up with a 5.0 was even until about 55 mph and then i pulled a couple lengths on him. its been nice.

If it makes you feel any better about 5 months ago I pulled my 04 GTO into the garage with the 4l60 tranny going out....the car is still in the garage, but "while I was in there" I trimmed some fat off of it, tubbed in out, full roll cage, 4 link Ford 9", moved the motor back 12"s....oh yeah and gave it a full tube chassis and shooting to keep it under 2,500 pounds lol

Just curious, you state that you got the car out and changed the oil. I assume that you ran the motor to warm the oil. Did the tick happen then or only after the oil change?

I hate suggesting it in public, but you might want to dump a pint of ATF in the oil, run it for 5 minutes or so, then change your oil and filter again
