Default Steam out a ls1?

Has anyone had a problem like this? My buddy has a 01 SS that has a problem with steam coming out of the exhaust. Had head gaskets replaced and heads pressure tested at two different vendors. Put the heads back on the car and had the same problem again. What else would cause this problem?

Did you check and make sure the head surface wasn't warped. Also check the deck of the block for warpage.

Did he check for dropping coolant levels? Are you sure that is steam and no white smoke?

Yes, the coolant level dropped and after a few miles trying to get home it started getting a little hot.

No and yes. He put a 175 hp shot of nitrous. Was running a 150 hp shot before but upgraded the fuel system and put the 175 on and about the third or fourth run this happened.

Autotap should show some misfires while its using the coolant, and maybe that'll give a hint as to which cylinder the issue is on. Could be a cracked sleeve maybe? Does coolant ever get into the oil?

Sounds like the Nitrous shot may be causing the head to lift from the block. i.e. excessive cylinder pressures.
