Default buy better heads, or save some for fast intake?

Ok, so I've looked at some heads, and the 5.3 ones are the cheapest, then the ls6, then the prc 227. Now my question is this, for my budget on this build, should I go with cheaper heads and a fast intake or the better heads without the fast intake?

My thinking is id be wasting money on great heads only to restrict them with the ls6 intake I have (and no money left for new intake). So should I save some cash with the 5.3 or ls6 heads, and throw on a fast intake?

What cam do you have? if its stock id do a cam before heads or intake.. What exhaust do u have? A set of AI ported 243/799 heads, nice size cam and a fast 90/92/102 would work great

I have a pretty big cam, the magicstick 3. I know im leaving alot of hp on the table with that cam and stock heads.....but I don't see the use of paying twice as much for heads that will only give me 3 to5 extra hp.

Just stalk the parts classified page. I see good deals there for both heads and intakes...may take a while but worth it

If your intake is already an LS6, get the best heads you can afford. A better intake can wait.

I would get the PRC227s and wait on the intake.

I'll 3rd it.......later down the road you can drop the new intake on your engine with great heads in a few hours at the most, and you won't be kicking yourself wondering IF the better heads would have made more of a difference. Great heads now, intake later

heads are the most important thing in a good combo IMO, they are also more difficult to change later than the intake

3 to 5 hp???

New heads will yield you alot more than that. Intake is a waste of money if the heads don't flow well.

Good point thunderstruck.

Badazz, I was referring to a really good set of head compared to a great set. Certainly not from stock. Just trying to make sure I get the right heads for my car, ready to bolt in out of the box.

As far as bang for buck I am impressed with AI ported 243/799. Really wish I had had the money to send mine there before installing.

FAST should be the last thing to do and heads will give you way more than 5hp, and more than a FAST intake. Heads are a must and ALWAYS PERFORMS compared to the FAST intake, which might give the internet numbers some plp are looking for. A FAST setup can be anywhere from 0-35rwhp(ported/matched and the bigger TB)..

Unless you dont wanna lift the heads..it should not be a question IMO. Good luck either way.
