Default How to seat your crank pulley

I dont have access to a 200+ftlb tq wrench so what are my options...all ive got is a 100ftlb one & my big *** breaker bar what do you all recommend? Should i just use the breaker bar to tighten it down fully using the old well I weight close enough to 240 and I was hanging on the breaker bar method? And then just tq to 37ftlb + 140 degrees?

Thanks
Bill

my method wich i am sure is wrong is to just hit it with the impact till it stops moving, then hit it some more, like another 30sec. i have done 3 like that so far and no problems yet.

The first torque spec is just to seat the pulley, so, in my opinion, as long as you feel the pulley is seated on the crank its going to be fine. The second bolt, the one where you torque-angle it, is the real critical one.

If you weigh 240lbs and you're hanging off a breaker bar longer than a foot, its going to be more than 240lbs of torque. I dont think I'd go that far.

I was able to rent a 250-lb torque wrench from autozone for free.

I liek Parish's method, just beat the hell out of it with an impact wrench. Just check it after a week or so to make sure it's still on there.
