Default rapTR cam help

Hey,

I am running the rapTR cam with the stock 3.42gear ratio at the moment and when i take off the car just feels sluggish as if the car is taking in too much fuel and falls on its face then it picks back up as the rpms rise and i am wandering if this from the cam being to big for the gears or in the tune or something along those lines. The drivability aint bad but this is just weird to me. Any help or info will be appreciated.

Mods are trick flow 220cc milled, raptr cam, lg longtubes, o/r x, slps, dual air intake, ls7 clutch, stcok ls6 manifold and tb if that matters. car is a 01 z06 vette.

236/242 - .615/.615 - 111 lsa- cam specs
Thanks

IMO it needs more gear.

Yeah, you need more gear. That cam is a top end cam...its gonna feel a little lacking down low compared to how hard it pulls up top. A gear will help, but its still mainly an all top end cam.

The gear is not optimal for that cam but in a car that light with the deeper first and second gears, it shouldn't hesitate like that. I'd look at the tune first. I've got GTO's with stock gears running that cam. As a matter of fact, Mike our tuner has one in his. He daily drives it with no issues. Will that be the right gear for best driveability and performance? No. But you shouldn't have the issue you are having.

It would help if you gave cam specs, a lot of of have a great understanding of cams but dont waste brain power trying to remember marketing gimmic names.

Its too big of a cam for my taste, but shouldnt be falling on its face, just wont be as crisp as a properly sized cam would be.

Who did the tune? How much time was spent on it?

You think its taking on too much fuel, what does your wideband say its doing?

Thanks everyone I'm saving for a new differential with 4.10s and will have it tuned hopefully next week Moez28 is right on the cam specs and I updated the thread with them too but even tho its a top end cam I wouldn't think it would hesitate like this

I bought the car then a week later I took it to mayhem to do the tune and it made 383 was the best out of it and he said someone pulled all the timing out of the car and this was cam only no heads yet. Then they did a leak down test which failed as they tell me the pistons are cracked in there opinion . I now have changed the rings checked the pistons replaced the heads and everything else so I hope the problem is fixed so I am scheduling the tune soon. They spent 20min on it with 3 pulls and made low #s. As for the wideband I'm not sure and I used the getting to much fuel as a analogy of how the car felt it you give something too much fuel as it wants to die and sputter. Sorry for the long post but this is everything

After all that work and it hasnt been tuned yet...THIS is the issue with the hesitation. I wouldnt romp on it much until you get it tuned. The car needs a tune pretty badly.

Yea i agree on the driving it easy, I had a new clutch put in it so I'm not driving it hard at all. I hopefully can get a tune quickly as they get booked up but I will keep everyone informed and post dyno sheet when done
