Almost everything LS1 based will swap over.

If its a 3800...different story.

I'm thinking its a straight swap, just use the ls1 intake minifold, from what I know, which aint much, the blocks are the same just the rotating assembly is different...if you keep it stock I think it will be slower, so do a heads and cam swap before if power is an issue...

Its a direct swap as long as you stay Gen3 to Gen3.

Have to read up on specific year model changes and be able to identify the visual differences.

because you can get 3-4 5.3 pull outs for the price of 1 5.7.

Yea for good reason too. 5.3s can be built up, but thats not cheap.

I guess if the mission is to just get you back on the road....Performance will be a disapointment as power is lower with a heavier foundation.

Good to know

Also just wanted to say I'm not looking to do this for myself, it's for someone who wants the car back on the road quick and cheap.....He claims he wants to build the LS1 when the funds are more available

You could use the 5.7 PCM and have it reflashed for the 5.3, or use the 5.3 PCM and have it reflashed to work with the VATS for the WS6.

Or you could just use the 5.7 PCM as-is.

One thing they forgot to mention 5 years ago when this was posted, if its an iron 5.3 you'll have to redrill the mounting point for the alternator bracket. The aluminum 5.3s are already drilled there.

Quick Reply: 5.3 in a 98-02 f-body?
