You didnt use a "Tap" did you???

ARP chasers just "clean" the threads....TAPS cut and weaken the threads.

My paypal is badazz81z28@yahoo.com

So what's the problem with taking a used head bolt, grinding a groove in the threads, and using that to clean out the threads? Just wondering.

Because its not very effective. You should see all the loctite the chaser got out that the cut bolt didnt. Trust me, I'm cheap and don't like to spend the extra cash. I ended up buying both chasers.

Heck, if you're getting more crud out with the chaser my hat's off to you. I used a combination of rags, cut bolt, and high pressure air. It worked out okay. I'd be afraid of altering the threads with a chaser, but I could be completely off base. Anyway, good luck with your install!

I used an old head bolt ground flat on 2 sides.

After cleaning with that, and making sure all the coolant was out, my ARP studs screwed in all the way down by hand.

To each their own I guess. My studs absoulty have zero resistant going in after being chased. Before they would go in, but get hung up on the way down. Bottom line is the bolts will go in, but torque accuracy may or may not be effected by crud in the holes.

This is just like the "degree the cam" thread. People don't do that either and get by. Some people are just not too concerned about the little details.

Just want to add that I was concerned about the details of making sure that my bolt holes were clean, in fact I spent a whole day on that and cleaning off the old gaskets, it's just that the method I used with the ground-out bolt and air worked great. Anyway, sounds like you're in good shape with the chaser.
