Default re-build

Hey guys getting ready to tear my car down and start building her heads cam all supporting mods all that good stuff new seals basically all new top end but it has 160,000 miles on it is there anything u guys would suggest checking/replacing while im in ther car still runs strong always taken care of i did plan on new piston rings though any advice would help thanks

yep doe got the ls7 lifters ls2 trays getting ls2 chain and ported ls6 pump

Take your heads to the machine shop and have a quick clean up mill and valve job.

Forget the ported pump unless you wanna keep extra oil in it. A normal stock LS6 oil pump will do you just fine & save you some cash. The ported ones tend to suck the pan empty sometimes at WOT if you dont have extra oil in there. Just a word of caution.

thanks guys i had no idea about the ported oil pump thanks ill be running the tsp tsunami cam which just arrived today :] and ill be running new prc 2.5 5.3 heads

You'll like the bump in compression from the 5.3's. I love it with my little cam.

with a big cam like that get some comp cam trunnion bearings from TSP.consider some kaltech rod bolts.

Do a compression and leakdown test. That will give you an idea on the health of your block. From there you can take a more rational decision about if it is wiser to rebuild or not.
