i know some will disagree, but only when you start to move some big air does it really help.biggest restrictions are going to be just below the valve/bowl area and then the guide boss.just go with what the shop recommends..

Every major head porter removes that bump. It will not hurt a thing.

Sounds like your shop doesn't know much about LS heads.
Will it make a big difference? NO
But that is the trick where attention to details makes a difference here and there and eventually (looking at the bigger picture) the difference between an average porter and a specialized professional.

I knocked mine out (241s) and only cartridge rolled the bowls yet gained 12 cfm with the factory GM valvejob.......so yes it does help at least a few......
perhaps 5-7 cfm.

I would seriously think about telling the shop that you changed your mind and don't want them ported at all. They obviously aren't that familar with LS heads . It could be a big mistake to move forward!!! You are much better off saving up for some CNC work from a reliable shop that knows LS stuff.
