Default How to tell if my 98' T/A came with a corvette cam?

I read that in 98' gm had a shortage of cams for the fbody and installed a corvette cam. How could I verify if I have that cam and also what is the difference in the two? This is what I read...

25. A production shortage of F-body cams caused the use of a C5 cam to be installed in F-body LS1s for a very short time

probably no difference not even worth looking into. About as important as an fbody having an LS6 block.

I believe that only difference between the two is the Corvette cam had more overlap since it didn't use an EGR valve.

It doesn't matter. Once you take the god awful airbox off with the "silencers" and replace it with a direct flow lid the motors make the exact same power. True story On my 98 Z28 I couldn't find a lid in stock anywhere so in true hot rodder fashion I went to fabricating my own setup. Trip down to the home depot for a sheet of plexiglass and a swing by the parts store for yellow 3M adhesive. I cut the "silencers" off and sanded them smooth and even then I glued plexi over the holes with the 3M adhesive. Cut the vanes out of the stock lid and sanded it smooth. It worked like a champ. Dynoed 300 at the wheels with just that Frankenstein lid set up the same as it did with the aftermarket lid I finally put on the car.

Hmmm.

You mean windows cast into the block between cylinders, improved main web strength and bay to bay breathing and a revised oiling system better suited to high lateral acceleration isn't worth looking into.......?

I agree with the cam statement though. No difference worth mentioning.

in his defense... he was probably refering to difference in power output.

I figured that after I typed it, but pride got the best of me and didn't delete it.
