Default -------LS1 short block compatibility--------

Hey Everyone,

I have a 2000 TA with just over 107K its basically all stock besides bolt ons. I want to plan a FI build in the future and want to buy a short block built to handle the boost.

With that being said I want to continue buying other parts for the build such as heads/intake/etc.. until I have enough saved up for FI. I would rather not buy parts twice is what I am getting at. Which short blocks are completely compatible with a LS1? What can I swap on my current engine to use in the future for my FI build.

My intake is def going to need to be changed still running the robbing ls1 intake...

Turbo or blower?

More or less "direct swaps"- 6.0s (lq4/lq9) and 5.3s (l33 IIRC and another one).

Not quite direct swaps but still not bad- l92/ls3/ly6/l76/etc..

Turbo... Some sponsors offer forged iron 5.3s... That would be my route. Very cheap and still able to make big power.
Blower... I would make sure whatever I got had a nice crank in it if you plan on making decent power.

For a short block I would look into an lq9 based (iron block) 408 with a nice crank. You are looking at 4000$ or so. AES was building a very nice 390 but I believe they are sold out.

The only down side is the truck motors are missing 1 mounting hole (the other you can tap)... People have made tons of power however even without this mounting hole.. It isn't an issue at all.
