rocker studs

Default rocker studs

just went to install my comp cams rocker studs and the last one i installed would not go tight. what can i do? i was only puttin them hand tight?

ya took the stud back out and it took the threads with it. im hoping i can still save the head??

You might try a Helicoil kit - I believe that is an 8mm thread.

is 50lbs the proper torqe for the studs? seems high to me?

That sounds a bit high to me also. I checked the Comp website and could not find the spec - Where did you get 50lbs from?

rocker bolts are 22 lbs for oem. i would think aftermarket wouldnt be much different since they are going in the same threads

That torque is too high for a M8X1.25 thread. You need to helicoil the head. Make sure you cover all holes in the head to keep the chips where you can clean them. Helicoils come if different lengths. Get a "2D' length if you can find it as it will be much stronger.

As for the stud torque, checked with the Crane rocker installation instructions that were developed by Vinci performance. The torque they use is 22 lb-ft. Here is a link to their instructions: Link
