Default 408ci and oil pump pickup??

I have a question regarding spacing my windage tray away from the rotating assembly. By doing this I will be moving the oil pump pick up closer to the pan. anyone have issues with this? advice?

Takes a little bending and prying on the mounting tab, but you can keep it the stock depth

I just changed my actual oil pump along with a cam swap and did not prime it. I did squirt a good amount of assembly lube into the pump gears and operated them. I just fired the truck up and it had oil pressure within 5 seconds or less. W/ proper assembly lube I'm confident it is fine.

Youll want to mock this up and check. Use modeling clay, or Play-doh…doesn’t matter at the pickup…and put a moderate amount on the actual pickup. Set the oil pan gasket on, and set the pan on. Snug a few oil pan bolts down and take it back apart. Measure the clay thickness with a caliper and see where your at. It’s good practice to do this step on every build you do. Peace of mind in knowing exactly what’s-what is king when questions arise later. Anywhere from .225” to .375” is acceptable.
