Default notch pistons w/ g5x2 & AS 5.3L heads???

Does anyone know if I need to notch my pistons to use a g5x2 cam with Absolute Speed 5.3L stage 2 heads. The new versions come with 2.04 intake valves also.

i know with my AS 5.3's the valve drop was less than stock. that, with the fact that the valve is also bigger will probably mean you need to cut your pistons.

Thats what I'm also hearing. I thought one of the big advantages of going w/ 5.3l heads was so you can fit bigger cams in w/o fly-cutting the pistons and at the same time have a higher compression.

Any other thoughts...

UPDATE:

from LG,

The piston to valve clearance is only an issue on the 5.3 heads due to the larger valves. The Absolute speed heads are our choice when we need a very good head at a reasonable price. You still have to fly cut, and should try to get close to 11:1 comp ratio so you can still use 93octane gas.

I guess cam only for me now since I do not want to fly-cut!

I have seen lots of people saying they have to flycut, but never heard a price mentioned on having it done.

thats because alot of people do it themselves.
Give Jay a call and find out more about it. notching the pistons is not a big deal at all.
