Default Stock LS1 engine with a tick, PLEASE HELP!

This just started happening. It happens after about 15 seconds of starting the car. I didn't over-rev or anything. The noise is relatively quiet and it seems to be coming from the top end, driver side bank. Lifter or pushrod maybe? I made a video of it, you may need to turn the volume up to hear it. I can hear it even with the hood closed.

Wow! That's interesting, never would have guessed it was the oil. My car has been ran with Mobil 1 synthetic 5w30 its whole life. Maybe I'll switch to a different oil and see if anything changes. Will the sound disappear after the first oil change with a switch to different oil, or is it a gradual process?

In each of my DD's I've had, I've used lucas heavy duty oil stabilizer and it would sometimes clear up any weird noises. I'm assuming it would also clear up this sound. Should I use it, or is it something I shouldn't be pouring into my engine? What do you guys think about the product?

LS engines sound like sewing machines anyways and usually gets worse with an aftermarket camshaft depending on the type of lobes being used like XER or LSK

Yea I do not mind the sewing machine sound, I think it's a distinct and unique characteristic for our cars. But this tick I hear sounds like the engine has an issue.

crainholio, what's your thoughts on the lucas heavy duty oil stabilizer?

Mine does this also. It does it when motors hot OR cold but not all the time. Probably half the time I drive the car it does it.
I can hear it traveling down to my header collectors. Makes me think I have a small exhaust leak sometimes.

What if I just used half of it (half a quart)? That way I can use 5 quarts of oil and not have to buy a 6th quart of oil.

Sorry I was too stupid for you! (I am a mere 18 years old..)

Next time I need an oil change I'll look out for the SL rating, though I don't know where it is. Thanks for the help.

Early years of the ls engine did not have coated piston skirts so it is common to get piston slap until the piston heats up and expands.
GM later corrected this by putting a coating on the skirts to prevent the noise..

My 2000 model does the same too. Once it warms up it is really quiet.
