Default long story of a oil pressure problem! please come in and help!

ok so i got my 383 built by lab machine.. started it up and had 5 lbs oil pressure.. switched pumps 4 times to different ones and nothing did the trick.. shimmed pan down with a extra gasket did nothing.. long story short it was the oil plug in the motor wasnt in so i boiught one and put it in.. went right up to 80lbs cold start.. the plug popped out bc it was the wrong size and ever since then i been having oil pressure problems..

i changed gauge, o ring and plug to the correct size.. ever since then i been having good oil pressure around 40-50 lbs cold start but on hot idle it goes as low as 16.. but wen i rev it to 2000 it jumps to 40.. it also doesnt go really past 40 when its hot. since i changed the plug it has been more responsive. but still on the hot idle it goes so low which i cant figure out..

should i put a oil cooler in it? or get another pump

the pump i have now is the ligenfelter gm high volume high pressure spring. oil is 10-30.

I agree, it sounds like the bearings have opened up a bit from when it was run with low oil pressure. Any noise or knocking?

Sounds like this LAB Machine shop should be doing some warranty repairs for you.

going to go ahead and pull the pump out today and shim the spring then try and if not i have a ported ls1 pump.. going to try that then thicker oil if those dont work then im convinced its maybe a bearing or 2 thats why i dont hear any knocking or ticking... also going to see if there are any scratches behind or in the pump thats causing it to leak a little and maybe thats why its low at idle bc theres no pressure to pump it so it leaks thru scrathes etc..
