Default 226/229 575/578 - 112 good for a 5.3 build?

I found a custom ground cam that has these specs ( 226/229 575/578 - 112). Im building a FI 5.3, manual trans setup in a 67 or 72 camaro. Haven't decided which one to build yet.

Anyone with a ls1 or 5.3 running these specs. I assumed this being in a 5.3 it should be pretty good, looking for power through whole rpm curve and 6-6200shifts.

He also has a 236/242 580-590 113 but I think thats too much for my 5.3

thx

I had a 224/228 in a 5.3 with a 112lsa and it ran good... Course that was n/a... Id think the 112lsa would not be ideal for a forced induction application

I am running a cam only setup with the torquer V2 (.595 .598 232 234 112 lsa)in my n/a 5.3 swapped Camaro and it runs descent for a budget built motor. Only reason I used the v2 is because I had it laying around. I wouldn't advise going any bigger. It's a bitch to get a descent street idle without forcing a lot of idle timing. Works well with a 125 shot and 6900rpm shift points.

Turbo or blower setup? With a blower, Id go with a wider split and tighter lsa. It actually may not be too bad for a turbo.

Wouldn't head flow and comp ratio also be a big factor in what cam should be used with a turbo setup? I would think that higher comp ratio and or stock flowing 862 heads a smaller cam should be used to light the turbo at lower rpms.

Sorry guys, meant a fuel injected conversion for the 5.3

My motor combo so far is ls6 intake, ported TB, ported-milled factory heads, 226/229-575/580 on a 112. Going in a 67 Camaro, muncie with 373 rear gear.

My Camaro is full interior, vintage air AC, pro touring type car. All I want is a respectable driver, mid-low 12's and close to 400 rwhp
