Default 2004 LQ4 6.0 (new style floating piston) i need rings

Hello yall, i am currently in the proccess of building my 2004 LQ4 6.0. I called the sponser on here texas speed.....they said because i have the new style coated stlye pistons with the floating pins they cant get the stock size replacment rings for it. I thought that the rings were the same for all the 6.0 lq4 engines? im just looking for some moly rings for a stock size bore and stock pistons. not looking to spend 350 odd bucks for the gm replacments either. if yall know of a good place to get them let me know. ALso does the new style 6.0 pistons have different rings then the older style? thanks for any help.
Jay

Does your pistons have rings on them to get a measurement? Yours should be:

Bore size: 4.000" (101.60 mm)
Compression Ring: 1.5mm
Compression Ring: 1.5mm
Oil Ring: 3.0 mm

In that case, any 99-04 LQ4/LQ9 Piston Rings would work.

I'm not sure if they're available in 4.000 bore but Mahle has some really great ring sets that are very affordable. I bought them for use in a backup LS1 engine. They feature a steel top ring w/ plasma moly coating and a napier second ring. Check out p/n 41858CP to see if it fits your pistons, Mahle says it fits 2005-2007 6.0L. I purchased them through Summit.

Mine had a 1.2 mm top and a 1.5 mm 2nd. Not sure what year my block was, but I think 02'

Let me know if your top is thinner than the 2nd, I have part #'s at home for Mahle's

If you had 1.2mm top rings then it's a 05-08. And yes 05 and up are different and are not compatible.

RockAuto would be You're cheapest route and their stock rings are pretty good for $50-60
