Default Need help choosing heads

Hey guys. I am trying to decide what heads to get for my 99 TA. It has all the bolt on IHE, and it also has a TR228 cam. I am running a T56 with 4.10 gears and am looking for a lot better flow and much better power. I live a mile above sea level, and with that cam and a good tune, I am making 350hp and 350tq on the dyno, at the wheels. I want to get higher, but dont want to sacrifice any drivability. I would be willing to bump compression a little bit but not much. Any suggestions?

What is your budget?

What are you HP/TQ goals?

If you want the best heads possible, then go with AFR, TFS or PRC heads. If you looking for budget heads, then get some stock 243/799 castings and call it a day. You could always get them ported by a reputable company like Flowtech Induction, Advanced Induction, TEA, etc.

I already have the cam installed and tuned. I am not real sure about budget but can make it happen. I am looking for 400-450hp at the wheels. I figure with a good tune, some new heads and a new intake manifold, I should be in that neighborhood. I will probably go with the Fast intake and TB. My big question though is the heads. I want to be able to use premium pump gas, so I can boost compression a little, but I want to get much better flow that the stock heads.

With the 228r cam, some AFR 215cc heads milled for about 11:1 compression and a Fast 102 combo should get you 450 rwhp. That combo will be killler on the streets and still runt it's *** off at the track. That cam is very streetable and the AFR heads are know for making killer torque and under the curve power, especially if you mill them to get to 11:1 compression.

TSP,TEA,AI worked 243/799 heads will do it for you. Unlike aftermarket heads you can resuse your stock rocker arms saving money.

I don't see picking up 100 horse from a set of heads and an intake, esp a mile into space.

If I lived at that altitude, I would go straight to a supercharger.

AFR, MAST, are my favorites. Trickflows are also good, very good exhaust ports but I don't like switching out rockers to run them. Its all subjective to your budget. If you have about 2k for heads, then personally I would get AFR 215's. Then you will need head bolts, gaskets, etc.
