Default Critique My buddy's rebuild

98 ls1 spun rod chewed up crank bad so were getting new crank scat I beams with wiseco 3.905 flat tops with -2.2 cc reliefs send a set of 241 heads to ai to have performance rebuild and them install springs

He also order torquer v2 cam with ls7 lifters and ported ls6 oil pump ls2 chain order most
gaskets

Was wondering on ring gap for now the car will be all motor but may see a small shot down the road I was thinking
21-22 on top
23-24 second

Also what should I set the clearance at on main and rod bearings for this setup

The #1 suggestion you will get is to ditch the 241's for a set of 243/799's before sending them to AI.

Don't forget to have the rotating assembly balanced.

On the ring gaps and bearing clearances, here are the recommended values from Joseph Potak's book:

Piston Ring Gap: 0.020" Top, 0.022" Second for "Mild Power Adder" engines.
Main Bearing Clearance: 0.0015" to 0.0020" for aluminum block engines.
Rod Bearing Clearance: 0.0020" to 0.0025"

If his budget allows then he's gonna grab a set of 243's

And thanks on the ring gaps and bearing clearances
