Default Stock valve springs ???

WHATS the biggest cam i can use with them ? i was wanting 2 get the tr224 ?

Looks like you need to do some reading for a year or 2 before your ready for a cam... No aftermarket cam can be used on stock springs. You need at least 918's for the 224 and I would atleast get the pac 1518's.

^^^ yea dude I was going threw this a few months bak all the great feedback... You dwf dont wanna have them springs break it will not be good at all

The 1518's would be a great spring. The LS3 springs might be ok. But why risk it.

That is incorrect. TR224 requires springs with higher spring pressures than any stock ones.

CAFE is of huge importance to OEMs, if they can get .01mpg from running springs that are barely good enough for a stock cam new, then that is exactly what they do.

Maybe in the 70s you could get away with keeping stock springs with a cam upgrade but that has not been an option for a few decades now.

With the 224 cam you will want to run something like the PAC 1218s or a Comp 918 spring set. Stock springs should be used with stock cams.

i just bought PAC 1218 springs...seemed like a great choice for my 4.8
