Default Debating on an overhaul.

Hey guys,

I have a 2000 TA ws6. Current it has a 228r, LT's, LS6 intake, lid, and gears. The car has 161,000 miles on the original motor. After this fall, I will be buying a Moser 9" and RPM lvl 5 T56. I will also finish up the front suspension with BMR products.

Next summer, I am going to build a 402 stroker with TFS heads, Fast intake, ect.

Here is my question for you guys. I am also adding a 150 shot after this fall. The engine doesn't smoke or anything like that. The car is not my DD, but would rather not scatter the engine. Would you guys go ahead and pull the motor and put a good oil pump, rod and main bearings, rod bolts, and head studs? Or would you trust it to last until next summer?

Thanks for the help,

Jake

I wouldn't rebuild the bottom end unless you either had excessive piston to wall clearance in which I would hone it out 10 thou...i wouldn't add all those awesome parts to that high mileage a bottom end...but if oiling and compression are good you might as well rebuild before you spin a rod and need a new crank pistons and rods

I say just keep the motor intact and sell it whole to fund the new engine build

Seems like the best idea, why risk blowing it up when you can make money from it.
